Kota Blue Storm

Magaly over on Pagan Culture has invited us to share our fur-kids. My mother takes care of mine since I moved and cannot have a pet right now. There isn't a day goes by that I don't think about Kota and wish I could bury my nose in her fur and give her a big kiss on her wet nose.

I suppose I'll answer the same questions as Magaly.

1. Do all Witches keep familiars? Like Magaly, I think of my furry children as family, not tools. I did have a black cat once that loved to sit with me at my altar though. ;)

2. Has Kota ever assisted during a magic ritual? No not that I remember. But she has helped with Halloween, much to her dismay.
"I don't like you right now mommy, so I stick my tongue out at you and refuse to look at the camera!"

3. Most Witches prefer cats. Is Kota a kitty in disguise? I'm not quite sure Kota realizes she is not a human. We've treated her as part of our family so well that she automatically expects full family privileges. Such as stealing my bed.

"What? This isn't my sleeping spot?"

4. Does Kota have her own broomstick? Who needs a broomstick when you can do zoomies instead?

5. What’s Kota favorite color for witchy robes? Robes are not quite her style, but tiara's are not out of the question.

6. Kota is a collie. Has she ever considered joining the fierce and elitist children of Thor?  When most people think of rough collies they think of the lovable and smart Lassie - a great family pet. Well I won't argue on the family part, but Kota has her tough side too. Just look how she defends herself against the evil villain, daddy's hand! Don't be fooled by it's normal appearance, it's pure evil! (No human flesh was consumed in the making of this picture)

7. So… is Kota part of any coven? If you consider coven family [I do] then yes, totally apart of this coven. :)

This is how it all started.

A Wish of Good Harvest to You

Well if you're Pagan you probably already know it is the first harvest or Lammas/Lughnasadh. Since my DH was hired at Goodwill we are finally bringing in a little more money. We had to wait a couple of weeks for his first check and since he is paid every two weeks it seemed like forever until he was paid again. Finally we are able to begin saving to move out of MIL's home. This harvest of money is greatly needed in our life.

Kota Blue Storm
We had a slight setback in our savings when my dog Kota (who lives with my mother in KY) needed to go to the vet. She has severe allergies and it was just getting too bad. So she went to the vet where he gave her a steroid shot that she will likely need the rest of her life. I'm hoping once we find a place to live and are able to bring Kota home she won't need it. If she does need it then that's what she'll get. Kota is so much apart of our family. I haven't saw her in so long and I worry she won't even recognize me.

Does anyone Freecycle? About a week ago someone was giving away blackberries. I use to pick blackberries when I was a child for my mother. There was some growing wild next to a fence row my mother would send me out to pick anytime she wanted to make a pie. So guess what I did with my blackberries? You guessed it. I made a blackberry and jam pie. The recipe is one of my MIL's so I can't link it. Here is a recipe for blackberry jam which was the topping for my pie. I even made a second pie for some new residents that moved in a few doors down. See I can be social when I want. *wink*.

Pin stripped under bust corset.
With more money means we can afford to spend a little on our happiness. DH bought Diablo 3 for his computer. He loves computer games and I'll admit I use to be big on playing World of Warcraft. I thought it a bit unfair that he get a treat and I didn't. So I did a very rare thing and splurged on myself. Remember when I said I wanted to give tight-lacing/waist training a try? Well I am. I've bought an under bust corset off eBay. It's probably not the greatest quality but it does have steel bones and the seller did assure me it is good for waist training. So we shall see. It was on sale as well so hopefully I get what I think I've ordered. If I like the feel of this corset I am going to save up to buy a custom made corset. I haven't told my husband all this yet. I wonder if he will like it or think I'm crazy? lol

Since the harvest always goes back to food and a feast...What culinary creation have you made recently that you're proud of? I made very yummy bread yesterday. There is half a loaf left that is destined to become bread pudding.

So what are you harvesting in your life? Anything interesting happen to you this week?

15. Share a picture of a pet in costume.

Not for Halloween, but equally cute! Sierra Belle and Kota Blue Storm

You can really see how they love each other.
My little Wonder Woman & the hippy dog!

Kota hates costumes. Two seconds after snapping this photo she got out of it. lol

In case anyone is wondering, Kota is a blue merle rough collie.

RIP Sweet Fur Baby

My mothers dog, Little Bit, died in her sleep last night. She was about 16 years old. Little bit came to us when a friends dog tied with a coyote. The pups were hard to home for that reason. My mother took one and named her Little Bit because she was just a tiny fluff ball of brown fur. We don't know why she died other than old age. She died peacefully and had a good long life.

RIP sweet one.

Picture of nature (water element).

Water is life giving and life taking. The most recent example is hurricane Irene. We drink water everyday yet we rarely think of it as anything special. We take this element for granted. How many times have you left water running? Or had the sprinkler system running when there was a drought? In some countries water is very precious because it is not readily available. The next time you drink a glass of water, think about it. Be thankful for the little things. Because somewhere its not such a little thing.

Now on to the pictures.
This is winter in KY 2010. My cat liked to watch outside.
I remember several years ago we had an ice storm. I think that was one of the worst winters of my life. Trees were breaking because the ice was weighing the branches down. We couldn't drive up our driveway without making a dangerous "slingshot" effect with our car to get it over a hump. Plus we had to use cat litter for traffic. During that storm we ran out of gas and was freezing cold in our house. The gas company wasn't happy with us because they had to deliver gas to us in the storm. And since we had no gas, the pizza driver wasn't happy to be delivering dinner to us either! Though we did tip generously.

And how about my dog Kota. She wasn't too happy mommy made her go out in the rain. lol. I've always enjoyed the sound of rain. Nothing like a good book cuddled up on the couch while watching the rain from a window. I love it! And thunderstorms are awesome. Yes I'm one of the idiots who stands by the door watching it.

Remember the next time it rains, take some time out to commune with the element of water. :)

Happy Full Moon!

Harvest Moon
Its the Harvest moon and that means what seeds we have sown are coming to fruition. So what are your plans for celebrating this time? What are you waiting to come full circle in your life?

In January we began our journey of moving back home to Ohio. We have yet to settle ourselves into our new life. We are still waiting to come full circle. I hope as we enter the harvest time our life will change and settle.

My the Lord & Lady help us find the right job and housing so that we may lead a better life. And may our dog Kota be protected and loved while she is in my mothers care.

Blessings, Love & Light

Missing my dog

Kota Blue Storm
Kota is my 7 yr old blue merle rough collie. She's like a second, more furrier daughter to me. She's my baby-dog and I really really miss giving her kisses on her cold black nose. See we've gone through a lot of changes since December. Dh lost his job, we moved to Ohio, and now we are living with my MIL. We have yet to find another job. DS was just born in May. Just too many things going on and no way to care for my dog. My mother has her and I know she is ok. Though no one can provide for my dog like I can (Or use to! )
Me & Kota
I can't afford her usual diet. Kota is allergic to corn so she normally is on a grain free food. My mother cannot afford that so Kota's skin is broken out. I feel so bad that she's itchy and I can't do much about it. My mother gives benadryl but that doesn't help much. I just can't wait till we are past this change in our life and we are finally able to bring Kota home.

Thanks
