17. Favorite Scary Monster

Werewolves would be my favorite scary monster. I mean, who wouldn't love to be a wolf? I like the werewolves that turn fully wolf, not the half-man/half-wolf you see in the picture to your left. Though that is an awesome picture. :)

I suppose everyone has a little part of us that would love to be able to shed their human life and go feral for awhile. No human problems to plague us. Just basic animal instincts and needs. Of course, we couldn't do that forever, hence a werewolf has the best of both worlds! I don't like the movies where they portray the werewolf as dumb savage animals who only want to maim and kill though. Wolves are actually very intelligent creatures with a dynamic family life.

I Love You But....

I love you but you drive mommy crazy sometimes. I love your giggles, your smiles, even your fascination with holding my nose, but you, my dear Wyatt, drive me crazy with your late night crying. We rock, we nurse, we nap together, but mommy's arms go numb, and when I put you down, you cry some more. You have this amazing spidery sense that tells you when your not in momma's arms. I love that your so in-tune to me. But please baby, mommy needs sleep too! Please remember, sleep deprivation isn't nice. Mommy gets cranky when she doesn't have sleep. This is why Mommy takes a nap every afternoon and your left with daddy. Please note, crying while mommy is napping keeps her awake and therefore negates the nap idea. You do not need to be in my arms for 24 hours a day. Other people can and should hold you too. It's essential for daddy's well being that mommy is happy. So please baby have good dreams. Have good dreams so I can do the same.

16. What is your favorite Halloween Project(s) for the kids?

Projects for Samhain/Halloween can be made from items around the house. Have your kids collect some fallen leaves, use uncooked pasta, paper plates, food coloring and whatever else you have handy for the kids to create. One of the more simpler things to do is make a pentacle out of a paper plate, construction paper, and glue leaves around the outside. This makes a perfect decoration for your children's door. Gather twigs and make one for your front door instead of making the circle out of paper.

Another thing I like to do is a wishing cauldron. Fill a small cauldron or bowl with milk. Everyone gets a small piece of paper (sticky notes work well here). Everyone writes one wish and one thing they wish to let go of. A ritual is done and you can choose to either read your wishes aloud or just fold the paper and add to the cauldron. At end of ritual, dig a hole and consecrate the wishing cauldron's contents to Earth.

I'm sorry this is so short. I had a long sleepless night with my baby and mom is tired!

Remembering our Angel Baby

In January of 2000 I had the happy pleasure of announcing that I was pregnant with our first child. However in March when I went for my second prenatal appointment the doctors discovered that my baby had no heartbeat and had died several weeks beforehand. My husband and I were devastated. I refused to believe they were telling me the truth. After all I had just heard the heartbeat a month before. Everything was going so well. I wasn't really sick and had only mild pregnancy symptoms which I would later attribute to loosing the baby for many years. Though I later learned no symptoms of pregnancy is not an indication of miscarriage.

Anyway, I refused to believe my doctor. So instead of letting them do a D&C right away, I made an appointment with another doctor for a second opinion. It was a Friday so I had to wait all weekend before I could get the second opinion. I had such high hopes that weekend. I had convinced myself they had to be wrong.

That following Monday I experienced mild cramping as I was getting ready to leave, but being the stubborn scorpio woman that I am, I refused to believe my baby was dead. As we were driving to Lexington our car broke down. This was in Versailles, KY and the road we were on is treacherousness if you are on the side of the road. Some kind construction workers picked us up and took us to the gas station where we could make a phone call. By then the cramping became worse and I admitted to myself that we wouldn't need to get a second opinion. That horrible moment where I told my husband that I was having a miscarriage is forever etched into my memory.

While my husband made the phone call for his father to pick us up, I walked around the corner to the closest business. It happened to be a Cash Advance. The old lady there was kind enough to allow me to use her bathroom. She could tell something was wrong but I didn't tell her what.  To this day I really hate to look at this picture. This is where my baby exited my body, I was taken by ambulance to the hospital where a D&C was performed. I sat in shock, just hoping I was dreaming. Realistically there was no way to know if the baby would have been a boy or a girl. However to us, the baby would have been male, and named Seth Andrew.

As I sat in the hospital waiting to enter surgery, I meditated on why I was loosing the baby. Goddess let me know that the spirit attached to the baby wasn't ready to be born. But we were promised a year later we would have a baby. A year almost to the day, we learned we were expecting our daughter Sierra Belle. I'm at peace with loosing Seth. I know it was meant to be. But that doesn't make the pain of loss any less. He will always be apart of us.

This month on the 31st all witches and Wiccan's around the globe are celebrating Samhain, which is the 3rd harvest sabot and a time we honor our ancestors. All too often our babies are forgotten because they were with us such a short time when we honor our dead at Samhain. So this post is to remember that even if you never got to hold your little one, light a candle for your sweet babies. Now is the time to remember and honor them.

14. Favorite Halloween costumes for adults and/or children.

As a child I would almost always dress up as a witch. One of my favorite costumes as a child was one year when my mother did not have enough money to buy the premade costumes, she dressed me up in her old 70's outfits, gave me big hoop earrings and I went as a gypsy. It was so fun, and that year I had a lot of compliments on my costume at school.

One of my favorite costumes I've dressed my daughter in is a witch costume. I found a dress at Goodwill that reminded me of a 20's style dress. DD loved it and wore it till it literally fell apart. The only other things I bought to complete her outfit was a witch hat and wig which cost me about $8 at Wal-Mart.

Pagan Blog Prompt: Energy

Prompt: Energy in Objects

Do you believe in channeling energy (either your own or from other sources) into objects for a goal or purpose?

Do you conduct rituals to charge objects (with moonlight, water, salts, etc)?

Is the world just a bunch of energy, that we are moving and bending to our will (magic)?

Run with it! I'm sure there's lots of directions you guys can take this...

Every natural object stores energy. Every living thing has its own energy. And then we have the Universal Energy (Earths Energy) As two people have a conversation, they are exchanging their energy. Energy knows no limits. It doesn't stop at walls, roads, states, or countries. That is why you can get a "feel" for someone online. Because even though you can be countries away from one another energy still flows. 

As far as charging objects, yes I do this. Usually I'd wear a necklace. Lately I don't because my son  likes to grab things. But I charge them with positive energy, or with an intent I have in mind. Sometimes I will charge them for my husband to wear. Sort of a "Carry a little part of me" when we have to be away from each other for awhile. In January we separated for 3 months due to financial reasons. We were making the move to Ohio and he came first to find a job. Finding a job didn't happen, but the point is we were separated for a time. We exchanged necklaces before he left as a charm to keep a little bit of us together. Anytime I missed him, I'd play with the necklace and feel his presence. 

Magick can be bent to our will. This is called spell work. It should only be done with respect. If your just out to do spell work for fun, its not for you. Its also not meant to solve all your personal problems, though it certainly can help, you are required to do any "mundane" work to bring about the change. You can't just hope to find a job by casting spells, and then never put in an application. 

Energy can also be used to heal people or pets. I've talked about that in another post you may read here.

Some other ways to use energy is to protect yourself mentally. Psychic protection takes practice but can be a huge help when you empathic. I've wrote about Spiritual Protection in this blog post.
