Two Years Ago Today

Two years ago today, I was allowing a stranger to cut me open. I remember that day very vividly. My nurse was an older lady and her expert manor had a calming affect on me. As I was positioned at the edge of the operating table, I focused on her beautiful eyes while they inserted a spinal. I was then laid out on the table. I remember feeling like I was about to be a pig bound for slaughter.

My husband came in and sat by my head while they cut me, and at exactly 9 AM my baby boy was born.

Happy 2nd Birthday Wyatt!

Cake and ice cream equals a very happy little boy!
How do you like his cake I baked?

We've also successfully breastfed for 2 years now! Wow I didn't think we'd ever breastfeed for so long. When I first began I said my goal was 6 months. Then I changed it to 1 year. Then changed it to 2 years. I suppose that goal will be changed to 3 years next. :)

2 Years successfully breastfed! Yay. :)

Below is Wyatt on his 1st birthday. My how he has grown!

Friday Ramblings

Hello Everyone,

This post topic is going to be all over the place because I have several things on my mind. First off, if you work with a family member, do they ever get so lazy that you just wish you worked alone sometimes? I mean I could work alone. But the ritual I wrote is for the whole family. Dh has been like that this week. I wrote a very nice Ostara ritual and every night he's not in the mood or too tired. If he doesn't get his sweet little butt in gear by this weekend we'll do it without him.

Secondly, I have a bit of good advice. I have an interview for a job Monday morning. It's for an answering service position. Hopefully I get it because DH's job reduced his hours to 30 to avoid giving him insurance. That's one downside to Obamacare. Employers will always try to get around the system if they can.

There's also been some annoying things happen in my life. Some I worry about more than others. The biggest one is that Sierra broke her glasses the other day again. These have been the worst frames ever. They've broken about 5 times now. The tech at the eye doctors broke them twice. So that tells me it's not just Sierra being careless. Which means that my daughter can't see well. She's been very whiny this week and has barely completed any of her work. We will have to work through the weekend to try to catch up.

*   *   *   *
Second annoyance. Today someone "helpfully" rewrote one of my chapters of Guarding Humanity. While her intention was pure, her methods were not. She didn't ask first. I thought I was being too sensitive so I asked a few other writers, who assured me I was not acting with little girl panties. I did kindly ask her to stick to reviewing and not rewrites.

*   *   *   *
Third and final annoyance. I have had a song in my head for a week now. Every time I sleep I hear it in my head playing over and over. It's just one part of it too. I'll link the video of the song, but its not my fault if it gets stuck in your head too.

Toward the end it starts lyrics talking about many women who join together and walk into the sea. Many years ago when I first heard this song I received a vision. I saw myself and a few other women doing just that. A group of village people were after us. We knew we would not get away. So instead of being burned at the stake we decided to commit suicide by walking into the sea. It was a very powerful and emotional vision. I was in tears by the time it was over.

I've always wondered if the writer of that song was either one of the women, or if there is an historical record of such an event happening. If anyone knows, I'd be grateful if you enlightened me.

There is always bright moments in my day. Enjoy my son saying HI. :)

Toddler Freeplay

Since I'm talking about parenting styles a lot lately, here is a perfect example. I was making dinner last night. Homemade pizza was on the menu in case you're wondering. Wyatt was getting into a lot of things and being his usual distraction so once I was done with the rolling pin I just handed it to him and a little flour. He had a blast. Take a look. :)

My best advice for any new parents out there, don't worry about the little things. A slightly messy home is probably a happy one.

Smile!

I think everyone that has a naturally beautiful smile takes for granted how pivotal to society it is to be able to smile without fear. I wasn't one of the lucky ones. Blame it on genetics, growing up poor, or just plain bad habits. In my case, it's a combination of all three. By the time I was 7 I already had learned not to smile. Of course childhood teasing started early and really lead to low self esteem and just not caring in my teen years.

People have considered me stuck up because I don't smile or look cheerful. I was even fired for a job for "not being cheerful enough." I tried a little half smile, but I'm afraid it just came off as a grimace rather than a friendly gesture. Today, I can fully smile and be proud! I finally got my dentures. It's been almost a year since I started this transformation. I'm sure there is going to be an adjustment period. But I can already feel my outlook on life changing. There's no more need to hide!

Smile, and be happy. :)

Wyatt shows us he has a great smile too!

Birthday Pictures

Well my pretties I've had my head in a book most of the weekend. The other day my daughter wanted something to do so we took a trip to the public library. You know I just couldn't walk out of there with at least 5 things to read.

We had Wyatt's birthday party on Saturday. He seemed to really enjoy it. He had a smash cake, which immediately got smashed to pieces. I can see it was well named. lol

I've been thinking about what's next for writing, and I'm coming up blank for topics. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to hear them.

Without further ado. Here's Wyatt's birthday pictures.

Just hanging out in the yard waiting for daddy to come home so we could start the party.

The cupcake and smashcake

Wyatt gets to see his cake for the first time. I really wish I was able to catch his expression because it was priceless! Too bad I had the wrong angle.

Mmm. Smashcake!

Yummy frosting

Ta-da! I'm all messy and ready to open presents.

Sleep Deprived

I nap a lot during the day, especially when DH is home. Right now he's between job assignments so he's home a lot. Which is good and bad. The good is that I can catch up on sleep sooner, the bad is that I'm going nuts and just wish he'd go find a job. DH was going to go to London which is about 2 hrs drive away to put in applications yesterday. But yesterday morning he said there was snow on the ground [That melted before I woke up] and he didn't know if it was going to snow again so wanted to stay home. I checked the news and told him no snow predicted, but somehow that didn't change his mind.

I know my husband has a mental illness. I know he has some anxiety about going back to work. But this can't go on! I call bullshit on his snow excuse. Every time he says he's going to go looking there's always a reason not to go. He did go to the next town over and put him a few applications. That took less than an hour. Then he was back home playing on the computer and doing nothing. And ya know what, that mysterious snow storm no one predicted but him, never came.

OK sorry I'm ranting. I've just had lack of sleep and disappointed in everything. Wyatt will not sleep in his bed tonight. I don't know why but sometimes he just refuses to sleep in his playpen.

He goes through these days where he sleeps just fine in it, the next he wants to be held or sleep next to me all night long. Those nights are exhausting and I've pretty much given up on getting any sleep right now. Though Wyatt is happily asleep next to me on the couch. I bet if I moved him to his bed he'd be awake in 2 seconds flat.

And were OFF

It's Wyatt and Mommy at the starting gate. Wyatt is a spirited young stud and he's pawing and scooting around while Mommy is an older mare and couldn't care less what the young man is doing.

And were OFF.

It's mommy and Wyatt neck and neck as we round the couch end turn. Then it's Wyatt as he giggles gleefully and heads toward the computer cords. But wait, mommy put on a burst of speed and foiled Wyatt's move.

Now it's Wyatt heading toward the invisible spot in the carpet. He's got a wad of hair but Oh no mommy grabs it from him.

And now we have Wyatt who watches mommy slyfully as he grabs the diaper pail. But Daddy swoops in from nowhere and baby is foiled again.

And Wyatt is off, this time heading to the rocking hair bend as he grabs the seat and wait.. He pulls himself up! Holy cow I've never seen a baby take off so fast. Oh no, he's let go and fallen down but don't worry mommy is there to pick him up.

And there you have it folks Mommy saves the day with her nummie maker soothies.  lol

Sorry I'm not Chatty

I think my head might explode soon.  Needless to say I don't feel very witty, or chatty, or creative. The flu has hit hard here. Everyone keeps passing it around. Poor baby man is sick, I'm sick, DH is sick. Everyone is sick sick sick. What's worse, nursing while sick sucks. I'm the type that just wants to sleep till I'm well, and I can't do that because Wyatt is so needy. I also haven't found a medicine that works and is safe to use while breastfeeding.

I took Wyatt to the doctor today and basically the woman looked at him for a minute, said  yep he's sick and left. UGH. I hate doctors. I know they really can't give him anything at this point though. Wyatt does weigh 19lbs now. I figured he'd be over 20 but he's just under. He's getting so big!

Anyone want to do a guest blog or two? That would help me out. I wouldn't feel so bad for abandoning my lovely witchy reader's. If so send me an email and put "guest blogger" in the subject line so I don't miss it.

Silly Boy

For your viewing pleasure, this is what we wake up to every day. One silly boy who loves to ham it up for the camera. His new favorite thing is to click his tongue.

Wyatt's 4 Month Check Up

So today was his 4 month checkup. I can't believe how time flys! I really was dreading taking him to the doctor today. I hate getting his vaccines, but I do believe they are for the best. I know a lot of moms are choosing to skip vaccines for various reasons, and that's their right as a mom. But I just feel that they do have a good purpose and the risks are worth the benefits.

So he got two shots and an oral vaccine today. The doctor checked him out and mentioned "Rice cereal" at 6 months which we will just ignore. Evidently DH's mother has been saying that Wyatt should be eating solids. She hasn't said a word to me about it. Probably because she knows it wouldn't go over well with me. He's had a taste or two which I don't like doing but tolerate. He won't be getting any solids on a regular basis till I feel he is ready. I have such an awesome hubby to not mention his mothers "suggestions". He knows it would irritate me. But he told the doctor what she's been saying, so now I know.

Wyatt is now 17.95 lbs and 27 inches long. He's such a big boy! And he's a trooper. I think the shots hurt mom more than baby.
