Only by giving...

"Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have."
- Jim Rohn

Today's quote is pretty simple. Don't worry about what you are going to receive. Worry about what you can give others. In doing this, you get what you need in life - not what you think you need. Presents are just tangible representations of another persons love. The real present, is that the person loves you enough to think about you.

  1. Thanks for the quotes. I'm enjoying your November theme. I tell my girls this all the time. Love is the best present!!!!

  2. This is *so* true and I've lived it. For many, many years, I gave and gave and gave and gave to my sister. She was a single mom with 4 children and was almost always in need of a place to live, a babysitter so she could try to get and keep a job, and more.

My ex-husband complained that she was taking advantage of us and that I was giving far too much.

It never bothered me. She's my sister and I wasn't keeping score. I know in my heart the difference between somebody taking advantage of me, and when something that goes around is going to come around.

Sure enough, karma did come around. When I divorced my ex-husband last year, my sister gave me a place to stay in a state where I could get a quickie divorce, and right next to the state where my boyfriend was waiting for me to come up and marry him.

She also *paid* me to live with her and look after her 5 children (her 4 plus her 1 step) on a very irregular basis. Even if I didn't babysit that week, she still paid me.

So I got free room and board, meals AND paid just to be there in case she needed me.

Like I said, I never kept score, but I feel like I received back everything I ever gave her, and more.

That's probably wayyy too long a comment. LOL But I just wanted to share why I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment!
